 Babasaheb purandare a name is Balwant moreshwar purandare but he popularly known as Babasaheb purandare he was born on 29 July 1922 he was an Indian writer historian and theatre personality he is from Maharashtra he was awarded with Padma vibhushan India second highest civilian award on 25 January 2019 he works mostly based on the life event of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj he is mostly known for his popular play on Shivaji Janata Raja which was popular in Maharashtra but not only in Maharashtra but also popular in Andhra Pradesh and Goa Babasaheb they also studied the history of peshwas of Pune

Babasaheb purandare was married with Nirmala purandare she was a veteran social activist She founded vanasthali organisation in pune . She was rural women and in the area of child development

Nirmala devi brother name is shree Ga majgaonkar her brother and babasahab purandare had very closed association in the field of literature . Babasaheb purandare and daughter and two sons . There name is madhuri ,amrut and prasad . His all children are active in marathi literally field . Madhuri purandare ,his daughter is a renowned  writer,painter and singer

He was taken to hospital in Pune with pneumonia, in November 2021, where his condition was categorised as critical.He died on 15 November 2021, at the age of 99.


A 2008 TV show raja shiv chhatrapati depicting the life of Maratha king shivaji was based on Raja Shivchatrapati novel of Babasaheb Purandare.


Political workers protesting again Babasaheb Purandare. Babasaheb purandare believes that he has sullied the reputation of Maratha warrior king Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj through his writings. They also, protested when Maharashtra government decided to award Maharashtra Bhushan to the writer.
